Full biography

Robert Kay is a dispute resolution lawyer with over 25 years of experience advising businesses and individuals on complex and high stakes disputes.

He originally trained and practised as a barrister. He instinctively assesses how a case is likely to be challenged and how it would stand up in front of a judge. This mindset informs both strategy and negotiation. It allows him to take firm, realistic positions and often resolve matters before trial.

Robert acts for high net worth individuals, owner managed businesses and multinational organisations across a broad range of commercial and civil disputes. Many matters involve reputational sensitivity, urgent risk or significant commercial consequences. In these situations, he considers not only the legal claim, but also the potential impact on personal standing, business relationships and wider strategic objectives.

He has particular experience in reputation protection, including managing media exposure and international issues where legal and non legal risks need to be handled in parallel.

Robert also advises on international dispute resolution. He works closely with foreign lawyers, coordinates proceedings across jurisdictions and guides international clients through the practical demands of English procedure.

Alongside his practice, he delivers training in witness handling and courtroom performance for expert witnesses and police forces. He works with CID officers investigating serious and complex crime, focusing on how they communicate in the witness box and how they prepare decision logs.

His approach is straightforward and measured, with a focus on achieving outcomes that protect both immediate and longer term interests.
